The County of Sonoma's Department of Health Services (DHS) seeks an experienced and dedicated Equity Program Manager!


Starting salary up to $47.43/hour ($98,992/year) plus a cash allowance of approximately $600/month*

Reporting to the COVID-19 Section Manager, the Health Services Equity Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the COVID-19 response are viewed through an equity lens in order to reduce disparities in positive cases of COVID-19, and to reduce the overall impact of the virus. The work will be conducted in alignment with the County’s Strategic Goals on racial equity and social justice and the Office of Equity. Duties of the position include:

  • Managing the Latinx Health Task Force, including planning and running a weekly meeting, developing agendas, producing notes, working with members in between meetings, and communicating with leadership about ongoing progress
  • Identifying gaps in our ability to provide culturally appropriate services and resources and making recommendations to improve these areas
  • Coordinating with the efforts of the County's Office of Equity
  • Developing contracts if outside resources are needed (e.g. indigenous language translators at popups, bilingual/bicultural nursing staff, ensuring hotline staff are bilingual, etc.)
  • Ensuring that data used in decision making (public and private) incorporates an equity lens and assist in developing culturally appropriate narratives about trends in the data
  • Working closely with various taskforces to define equity goals and work plans
  • Identifying opportunities to collaborate with Community Based Organizations (on contact tracing, testing, staffing, resources, etc.)

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong process management and strategic planning experience
  • Demonstrated experience using data to inform decisions
  • A high level of communication skills, including the ability to make recommendations to executive leadership and develop and implement public information initiatives
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills to track and report on data metrics and progress toward defined goals
  • The ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders, including department leadership, internal staff, community partners, and the public
  • Strong knowledge of and practical skills using web design and digital/social media content-delivery channels
  • Experience developing creative and innovative solutions to public sector communications challenges
  • The ability to facilitate meetings in an inclusive and equitable manner
  • A proven ability to represent an organization's mission and services to stakeholders and the community
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are desirable

Current funding is in place for this Time-Limited position through June 30, 2021.
