AMERICORPS TERM OF SERVICE


OVERVIEW

The Office of Sustainability prioritizes increasing environmental awareness and facilitating sustainable choices that reduce our environmental impacts, particularly greenhouse gas emissions. Positions are contingent on funding.


MULTI-FAMILY RECYCLING SPECIALIST

Support Tacoma's ambitious waste diversion goals through education, engagement, and expansion of multi-family recycling services.



FOOD WASTE PREVENTION SPECIALIST

Empower residents and businesses to reduce their food waste footprint through a mix of outreach, education, and events.



URBAN FORESTRY SPECIALIST

Recruit volunteers, provide tree care and tree biology education, and support tree planting activities as part of the Urban Forestry Program to increase tree canopy and improve health and well-being across Tacoma.



SUSTAINABILITY COACH

Engage directly with households in an underserved neighborhood to increase access to services and facilitate sustainable choices. Intensive engagement methods, including door-to-door conversations, community meetings, and events, are employed to achieve greater equity and leverage community participation in sustainability.



SUSTAINABILITY SPECIALIST

Help Tacoma meet the goals outlined in the Environmental Action Plan by increasing environmental awareness and behavior change through community engagement strategies including events, social marketing, social media, presentations, and more.
