donateNYC, a program of the NYC Department of Sanitation, helps residents, businesses, and nonprofits give goods, find goods, and do good with tools that make it easy to donate or find gently-used and surplus items. Donating and reusing goods instead of discarding them reduces waste, conserves energy and resources, saves money, and supports organizations working to improve the lives of New Yorkers.
donateNYC is an essential part of NYC’s 0X30 initiative, helping New Yorkers reach the goal of sending zero waste to landfills by 2030.
donateNYC is seeking a Community Coordinator to assist in growing the program's community of food donors and recipients as donateNYC develops and releases its food donation platform. In addition to outreach, public education, and research, the Coordinator will be responsible for administering the food donation portal and for gathering data to inform outreach and programming.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the food production and distribution industry in NYC as well as knowledge of food rescue, donation, and access programs in the City. Familiarity with the issues of both food waste and food insecurity will be helpful.
The Coordinator must be an outstanding communicator who is skilled at building and maintaining relationships; additionally, the coordinator must be extremely detail-oriented and skilled at tracking and understanding qualitative and quantitative data.
