Senior Liaisons (5 Temporary Positions), Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP)

The Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP), operated by the Office of Workforce Development (OWD), is a public sector summer employment program serving approximately 700-1000 Cambridge teens every year, giving priority to students eligible for free or reduced lunch. Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Employment, the Senior Liaison will:

  • Assist youth with online (Trax) applications and troubleshoot application problems
  • Provide clear information to youth and parents, with patience and respect
  • Enter data with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
  • Complete individual hiring packets with youth using a combination of video and in-person meetings
  • Help to match participants with job assignments
  • Assist with staff training
  • Monitor, evaluate, and support virtual and some in-person job sites
  • Assist with collection of timesheets and other program documents
  • Plan and manage special events

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

Experience in youth development programming. Excellent computer and problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail. Ability to work as part of a team, troubleshoot, and communicate with high degree of clarity and effectiveness. Experience working with diverse youth population. Experience in youth services program delivery. Background in Cambridge youth/education services and workshop facilitation skills a plus. The City of Cambridge’s workforce, like the community it serves, is diverse.  Applicants must have the ability to work and interact effectively with individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies. Applicants will ideally be available starting May 10, 2021 until August 27, 2021.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment with fluorescent lighting, air conditioning, computers, and other standard office equipment. Shared office space can be busy and loud.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be open to both in-person and virtual work and adhere to City COVID guidelines. Sufficient mobility to travel back and forth from the MSYEP office to various sites throughout the City. 

RATE: $17.15 per hour

HOURS OF WORK:                       37.5 hours per week; 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Some evening and weekend work will be  required. Temporary position starting May 10, 2021 through August 27, 2021.
