Position Description

Under direction of the Assistant General Manager for External Affairs (AGM), the Deputy Assistant General Manager (Deputy AGM) directs high priority, cross-Agency, time-sensitive initiatives. As a part of the External Affairs Management Team, the Deputy AGM is expected to function at the highest level of management and provide highly specialized professional functions within the Bureau and Agency. This position is responsible for the coordination of high-priority Agency-wide issues, facilitates strategic planning processes, works behind the scenes to problem solve, and has a high-level of accountability. The Deputy AGM works directly with the External Affairs Management Team to develop and refine the Bureau’s strategies, planning processes, and implementation methods for maximizing the overall impact of the Bureau. This senior-level position ensures quality control across all External Affairs Divisions, facilitates cross-Bureau collaboration, and change management.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or college in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban Studies, Urban/City Planning, Law, Environmental Studies, or closely related field; AND

Six (6) years of verifiable managerial and/or administrative experience in program planning, program management, and implementation. This experience must include planning, assigning, directing and reviewing work processes.

Note: 

Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. One year (2000 hours) of qualifying experience will be considered equivalent to 30 semester units/ 45 quarter units.
