Leschi Elementary School is a thriving community school with a truly diverse and integrated student population located in the heart of Central Seattle, Washington! Leschi is proud of our unique curricular model we call the “Best of Both”—students have Montessori math and science teachers for half or their day and CCC Literacy teachers for half the day. We are looking for three more full-time literacy tutors to join our two already hired and to become part of our school community from 8 am to 4:30 pm from 9/1/18 to 7/15/19 or 9/16/18 to 7/31/19. {School vacations off in November, December, February and April]. Members receive monthly stipend of $1,307before taxes, option for basic health care, student loan forbearance, plus $5902 education award upon completion. (Note: We have families willing to rent room(s) to tutors below market rate if interested in shared housing and some limited weekend childcare, and also this pay rate qualifies for food and transportation assistance, in addition.) Do you have a passion for serving others and making a difference in the community, and want to learn skills you can use in a professional career? The Washington Reading Corps is a national service program that is actively engaged in improving literacy in communities, local schools and learning centers throughout the state. In collaboration with the state’s Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, projects in this program focus on: tutoring struggling readers in Kindergarten through sixth grade, and preparing young children for successful entry into Kindergarten and literacy achievement in Early Learning Centers. Joining the Washington Reading Corps is a commitment to serve for 10.5 months and 1,700 hours, and our program year begins in September. Members receive • A taxable bi-weekly paid living allowance of $1307 a month • The option of basic health insurance • An education award of about $5,902 when they successfully complete a term of service • The opportunity to put qualified federal loans in forbearance while they serve • Childcare assistance The Washington Reading Corps is ideal for people who are taking a year off from/before college, making a career change, or interested in tutoring kids and giving back. Program Benefits : Childcare assistance if eligible , Training , Stipend , Health Coverage , Living Allowance , Education award upon successful completion of service.

WRC places members around WA State. There are three positions still available in desirable Central Seattle at Leschi Elementary School—an easy bike or bus ride from Downtown, UDistrict, Capitol Hill, or South Seattle.
