The Legislative and Budget Aide is a position integral to the day-to-day function of the office of Council Member Van Bramer. The position liaises with Committee & Finance staff, prepares the Council Member for Council hearings, and is the primary City Hall staffer. Candidates must be excellent writers and be able to think on her or his feet in a high pressure environment. Ability to work closely in a collaborative environment is a must.

Primary Job Responsibilities

· Attend and brief the Council Member of committee hearings

· Monitor the progress of initiatives and grants;

· Maintain contact and relationships with stakeholders of local non-profit organizations;

· Provide advance briefings for Council Member at legislative briefings and hearings;

· Assist in policy research and analysis;

· Attend evening events with Council Member;

· Work with Chief of Staff on budget analysis and progress of allocations;

· Draft legislation

Desired Qualifications Include

- Two years previous government experience;

- Four Year Degree;

- Strong work ethic and a 'can-do' attitude;

- Excellent writing ability;

- Multi-lingual proficiency;
