What is The NYC Teaching Fellows Program?

NYC Teaching Fellows participate in an intensive, practice-based summer training program and earn a subsidized master's degree in education while teaching in a New York City public school. 2020 Fellows will train to teach in subject areas including math, science, special education, and Spanish language. Fellows who successfully complete our summer training program become full-time NYC teachers in September 2020, with a starting salary of at least $59,291 and full benefits.

NYC Teaching Fellows will provide you with the foundational skills you need to be a leader in the classroom on day one - and begin a meaningful career as a NYC public school teacher. Today, more than 10,000 Fellows teach high-need subjects, including Special Education, Science, Math, and Spanish in New York City classrooms.

Who We Look For

NYC Teaching Fellows represent a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds. All majors are welcome; Science and Mathematics majors are particularly encouraged to apply. No prior teaching experience or education coursework is necessary.

We look for candidates who possess:

·        Commitment to raising the academic achievement of students in underserved communities

·        Ability to respond well to coaching and feedback

·        Desire to grow professionally and seek new opportunities to learn

·        Integrity and clarity in all interactions

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree by May 31st, 2020 and have a minimum GPA of 3.0*See full eligibility requirements here.

*Applicants with a GPA of 2.5-3.0 may apply with a written GPA statement.
