Description

The office of Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis has an opening for an experienced Staff Assistant/Scheduler. The First District is home to two million residents, across 246 square miles, in diverse communities from unincorporated East Los Angeles and Valinda, MacArthur Park to Eagle Rock, and South Gate to Pomona. The candidate must be community-oriented and have a strong interest in improving the quality of life for residents of Los Angeles County and especially First District constituents. The Staff Assistant/Scheduler will form part of the First District’s Scheduling team and will work alongside the Legislative Deputies and the District Engagement team to provide the support needed to implement Supervisor Solis’ policy priorities. 


DUTIES


  • Work under the management of Supervisor Solis’ Executive Assistant to calendar meetings, events, and related tasks for the Supervisor;
  • Support with scheduling requests;
  • Coordinate meetings for Supervisor;
  • Process certificate requests for community members;
  • Reserve and prepare meeting spaces;
  • Assist with office operations as assigned;
  • Packaging of briefing materials when necessary;
  • Assist with office errands as needed and assigned;
  • Maintain excellent communication among staff (across five offices) as well as community stakeholders, ensuring that information is expeditiously communicated in preparation for the Supervisor’s meetings and events;
  • Attend community meetings and district events as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS:


  • Multitasking is absolutely critical;
  • Must be able to work independently;
  • Must be highly motivated and committed;
  • Must be a team player;
  • Must be detail oriented while staying mindful of the office’s broader goals;
  • Familiarity with the First District, its communities, and constituency;
  • Knowledge of the working of Los Angeles County is preferred;
  • A valid California class "C" driver license and auto insurance is required to perform job-related functions;
  • Ability to drive to meetings and community events throughout Los Angeles County.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Two years of experience as an administrative assistant within a governmental or private sector office;
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
