The Mayor's Office of Special Projects and Community Events supports the Mayor and First Lady's commitment to honor the diverse communities of New York City by organizing, managing and directing Mayoral public ceremonies, celebrations and receptions, in partnership with city agencies and with the support of the private sector. These special events are hosted at Gracie Mansion and other iconic sites across the City. The work of the unit is key to celebrating the diversity of the city and bringing New Yorkers together.


Reporting to the Executive Director of MOSPCE, the Development Manager position is responsible for planning, researching, developing, and raising the resources necessary to support the events managed by MOSPCE, including sponsorships and in-kind donations.


Responsibilities:

• Create Resource Development Plan for MOSPCE, including annual budget for sponsors and in- kind donations to support MOSPCE’s budget

• Source and secure in-kind goods from City Agencies and private organizations

• Develop relationships with City Agencies and private entities to ensure effective plans to secure resources

• Builds and maintains relationships with philanthropy and business institutions

• Co-Manage a team

• Work with Deputy Director on budget and financial oversight

• Oversee the development of materials including pitch decks, sponsorship letters

• Through multi-channel campaigns, create, execute and monitor donor conversion, retention, and upgrade strategies


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

• At least 5 years’ experience in fundraising with a track record of raising money

• Knowledge of special events

• Experience/knowledge of public policy and government affairs

• Impeccable managerial and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communications skills required

• Must be a self-starter with ability to produce under pressure with attention to detail

• An understanding of the important role of diversity, equity, and inclusion


Working conditions

Special working conditions cover a range of circumstances from regular evening and weekend work, shift work, working outdoors, working with challenging clients, and so forth.


Salary:

Commensurate with experience.
