We are looking for a professional, organized, and dependable candidate to serve as an administrative assistant supporting our Office of the Clinical Director at the National Cancer Institute’s Center for Cancer Research on its campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The Clinical Director’s office is at the heartbeat of our clinical research program where physician scientists are treating patients with cancer at the NIH Clinical Center, the world’s largest dedicated research hospital. Tasks involve calendar management, arranging travel, drafting and handling correspondence, timekeeping, managing signature requests, coordinating medical credentialing requests, tracking and processing outside medical requests, placing purchase requests, office property management, and (when returned to the work site) greeting visitors, assisting callers over the phone, and office work, such as copying, filing, and scanning.

Level of Language Proficiency

  • At least one year of experience in an office or administrative setting;
  • Ability to work effectively with basic computer office software (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • Interest and ability in learning and using a variety of administrative software programs and applications to carry out work in areas such as purchasing, timekeeping, property management and scheduling;
  • Ability to interact professionally and communicate effectively with a wide range of people from senior leaders, distinguished guests, members of the public, and office and laboratory staff;
  • Experience with calendar scheduling in Microsoft Outlook preferred.
  • This position does not involve interactions with patients, however ideal applicants will have some experience in or knowledge of clinical settings.
