The Director of the Arkansas Academy for Educational Equity will be responsible for representing the Academy and its interests to all external audiences (placement districts, potential funders, national education reform organizations, local education reform organizations, and elected officials).

This position will be responsible for hiring, training, and retaining high performing staff members. The Academy Director will be responsible for program, operational, and recruitment staff meeting Academy goals as determined in funder agreements and strategic planning cycles. This position will assess the performance of all Academy staff annually to ensure all staff members are receiving feedback and offered opportunities to learn and grow within their roles at the Academy. This position will be responsible for building, strengthening, and maintaining relationships with University of Arkansas staff.

This position will require regular travel between Little Rock and Fayetteville. There is some flexibility for the position to be located in either Little Rock or Fayetteville.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Ten or more years of work experience with four plus years of experience managing large teams

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • M.A.Ed., MBA, or JD
  • Experience managing programs that train and support strong teachers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong managerial, communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
  • Demonstrable communication skills—both writing and verbal
  • The ability to interpret and apply the provisions of laws, rules, or policies to specific situations
  • The ability to analyze data and prepare financial reports
