What you will be doing:

  • Working with the Office of Developmental Disability Services (ODDS), The Service Equity Manager position will promote equity in the delivery of social services by DHS to Oregonians. Providing culturally appropriate services means individuals will be treated respectfully, compassionately and effectively in a manner that recognizes, affirms and values the worth of individuals, families and communities and preserves the dignity of each.
  • To do this important work, the position will work with ODDS program leadership, staff and key stakeholders and advisory councils to develop an equity plan which includes strategic planning; program specific policy and procedure development and review; coordination of data-collection, evaluation and analysis; recruitment and retention activities; training; and coordination with other Service Equity Managers and OEMS staff. 
  • This position will assist ODDS in developing an equity plan with program-specific strategic actions and a dashboard that provides quarterly reports on the diversity, inclusion and equity efforts and outcomes in the program area.

This employment opportunity is with the Oregon Department of Human Services/Office of Equity and Multicultural Services. There is ONE Limited Duration (expected to last 2 years from date of hire), full time opening located in Salem. This position is management service and is not represented by a union.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in an office environment with cubicles and audible distractions. Work may include long periods of sitting and standing. Frequent use of common office technology, including phones, computers, printers, copy machines, fax machines, etc. May require infrequent travel overnight to remote locations across the state. Overtime may be required during peak periods.


This is what you need to qualify:

A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science, or any degree related to Human or Social services; AND four years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work.

OR

Any combination of experience and education equivalent to seven years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work related to Human or Social services.

  • Experience providing consultation to leaders and decision-makers on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility issues.
  • Experience with strategic planning to address institutional and systemic inequities, especially within large organizations.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of the history of vulnerable populations and understanding of systems of privilege, power and oppression.
  • Strong intercultural communication (written and oral) and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong experience in developing and conducting intercultural training, making presentations, and mentoring in large groups, small groups and individualized settings.
