Office Support Specialist- Fuel Assistance and Summer Food Program

Provide phone coverage and general office support for the Fuel Assistance and Summer Food Programs, including fuel intake and certification and Summer Food training and program monitoring. Duties include but are not limited to:

Fuel Assistance

  • Answer phones
  • Book appointments
  • Respond to client inquiries
  • Photocopy client documents
  • File applications and documentation
  • Collect, open and sort mail
  • Process applications
  • Do on-line intake and certification calculating all income types.

Summer Food

  • Answer phones
  • Assist with preparation of training packets and with site training.
  • Conduct Site monitoring visits, as required by the Department of Education (DOE) and prepare mandatory reports for each visit.
  • Provide on-going site training, as needed, for sites receiving meal service.
  • Assist in the daily and weekly collection and collation of all forms and reports required from all operating food sites.

The Office Support Specialist will actively engage in and support the Department’s Race and Equity Initiative.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a well-organized self-starter capable of understanding complicated federal rules and regulations. Must be familiar with computers and basic office machinery. Should have excellent organizational skills, be able to multi-task and be able to interact with diverse groups of people. Must be able to take direction, be flexible and work well under pressure. High School diploma or GED required. The City of Cambridge’s workforce, like the community it serves, is diverse. Applicants must have the ability to work and interact effectively with individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Busy office environment, open space and fluorescent lighting. Typical school classrooms, cafeterias and open parks during summer. 

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Answer telephones and maintain multiple files. Must be able to lift 15 pounds and sit for an hour at a time. Must have sufficient mobility to travel back and forth to food sites throughout Cambridge during summer.  

HOURS OF WORK:                          30 hours per week

RATE: $20.52-$24.49 per hour plus excellent benefits
