The Scientific Program Analyst (SPA) will carry out administrative duties and scientific analyses in support of Directors of the Office of Obesity Research (OOR) of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). The NIDDK OOR is responsible for coordination of obesity-related research across NIDDK, and carries out its functions through the NIDDK Obesity Research Working Group. The OOR is located organizationally under the auspices of the Office of the Director, NIDDK, and its co-directors represent the two divisions with primary responsibility for obesity-related extramural research, the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition (DDN) and the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolic Diseases (DEM).. The SPA will:

Organize, provide logistical support for, and attend conference calls, scientific meetings and workshops; coordinate background materials, prepare meeting agendas and supporting materials and accurately write scientific meeting minutes.

 §Coordinate and maintain complex staff schedules and calendars, including scheduling meetings and presentations

Serve as liaison between Office Directors and NIDDK staff including distribution of materials   and general information.

Prepare and manage verbal and written correspondence with internal and external constituents on behalf of Co-Directors' Office staff.

Serve as OOR liaison with NIDDK Scientific Consulting Group (SCG)Coordinator; coordinate OOR-hosted meetings funded through SCG contract; monitor compliance with policies and procedures for efficient spending plan.

Create and maintain comprehensive OOR files and post on SharePoint

Updates databases and spreadsheets and creates reports for management

Schedule and attend virtual meetings using platforms such as Zoom, WebEx and Microsoft Teams

Work with the OOR and Divisional Program Staff staff to collate information into reports

Create PowerPoint presentations

Implement organizational priorities and provide a wide range of liaison and administrative services to program leadership.

Mine NIH databases to conduct analyses of NIH-sponsored research activities and output.

Coordinate updates of programmatic websites.

Collaborate with other Scientific Program Analysts and other NIDDK Staff.

Perform portfolio analyses, scientific categorization and reporting. 

Work products and documents related to logistical support, including meeting minutes, activity reports, and scientific meeting/workshop-related documents; 

Work products and documents related to specific scientific or administrative tasks and data analysis as requested by the Office of Obesity Research Co-Directors and working group leads implement organizational priorities.

Work products and documents related to mining NIH databases to conduct analyses of NIH-sponsored research activities and output; coordinate updates of programmatic websites.

Work products and documents related to evaluating the main scientific content of new grant applications to facilitate their assignment; perform portfolio analyses, scientific categorization and reporting.
