Position Purpose: The Digital Director is responsible for advancing the Walz-Flanagan Administration’s digital presence and initiatives while developing new, strategic, and creative ways to communicate with Minnesotans. This individual is charged with managing the digital brand of the Governor’s Office by communicating in a clear and visually appealing manner. This individual is responsible for managing the official website, drafting social media content, designing graphics, taking and archiving photos, writing scripts, filming and editing videos, making gifs, creating and distributing newsletters and other materials electronically, and developing other creative initiatives and digital tools as needed. This individual will often work nights and weekends, occasionally travel, and attend events around the state with the Governor and Lt. Governor to capture communications content.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Create a digital media plan to achieve the communications goals of the Governor’s Office
· Manage the official website and keep content current, usable, accessible, and relevant
· Coordinate with state agencies on web development, initiatives, and social media strategies
· Draft social media content and create graphics for the Governor, Lt. Governor and First Lady
· Track and report social media performance
· Set up and operate production equipment including cameras, mics, teleprompter, and lights
· Broadcast press events using social media platforms like Facebook Live and YouTube Live
· Plan social media events (Live WebEx or Zoom meetings, Twitter townhalls, Reddit AMA)
· Design and manage graphic layout of public-facing materials (infographics, fact sheets, web content, and media event collateral including posters, PPTs and media packets)
· Create and maintain a weekly newsletter with updates and information for Minnesotans
· Serve as photographer and videographer, archive photos, write scripts, edit video
· Report to Communications Director

Highly organized and motivated individual with an ability to think and implement a creative vision in support of the Governor and Lt. Governor’s message. In-depth understanding of new media tools as they relate to state government and Minnesota politics. Ability to work well with others and complete tasks in a timely manner. Advanced graphic design skills (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.). Proficiency in HTML, photography, and videography skills. Ability to quickly edit and cut audio, videos, and photos.
