Brent Elementary, a DCPS elementary school, located in historic Capitol Hill is looking for a highly motivated, talented individual to join our operations team in the front office.  

Position Overview 

The front office associate is responsible for managing Brent’s hub: the main office. Responding to questions from parents, prospective families, DCPS Central Office and community partners are critical daily tasks. Ensuring accuracy in Brent data systems including Aspen, MailChimp and financial spreadsheets are critical back-end functions of the role.   

This position is a safety-sensitive position. As a result, before and throughout employment this position will be subject to the Employee Mandatory Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Front Office Operations 

  • Manages communications from phone, email, text, PA and walk-ins. 
  • Provide customer service to all community stakeholders. 
  • Support instruction by managing Brent’s copy service. 

 

Brent Communication 

  • Review and disseminate Brent’s weekly newsletter. 
  • Ensure website, social media and online calendars are up to date. 
  • Post critical staff information on staff bulletin board. 

 

Attendance 

  • Records student attendance and maintains relevant records. 
  • Proactively communicates with parents, students, teachers and all stakeholders, in the form of telephone calls, written. 

 

General Administration 

  • Provides general administrative support to Brent’s Leadership team. 
  • Escorting students to and from classrooms. 
  • Greeting and addressing concerns of parents, guardians, and community members who visit the school. 
  • Attends staff meetings, staff development workshops, conferences, and other meetings as required. 
  • Participates in school‐based committees as necessary. 

 

Qualifications 

High school diploma or GED. 

Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus. 

Microsoft Office. 

Salary range $33,545-$40,694
