Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva District Office Internship Program
The California State Assembly Member, Sharon Quirk-Silva of the 65th District is currently seeking interns at her district office in Fullerton for the Spring 2014 Semester/Quarter. The District Office works closely with the Assemblywoman and mainly focuses on community outreach for the communities of Fullerton, Buena Park, Cypress, West Anaheim, La Palma, and Stanton.
This internship is designed around learning about how the state government operates, event planning, outreach into the community, and the daily operations of an Assembly Member district office.
Consideration for the internship program is granted to those individuals who excel in communication, multi-tasking, organization, and writing. Past experience in politics is also a plus. Experience in utilizing software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint are recommended. Students presently enrolled in college could receive school credit for this internship.
-Attend events with staff and provide support as needed.
-Track daily news and current events.
-Answer phones and direct calls.
-Use of the Legislative Constituent Management System (LCMS) for entering constituent requests.
-Assist staff with day-to-day operations, projects, and data entry as needed.
- Currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year college/university
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and internet research.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
-Must be able to fulfill 3 month commitment.
- Minimum of 10-16 hours a week.
-Internship is unpaid.
