Located just minutes from downtown Chicago and easily accessible by Chicago's exceptional public transportation, University of Illinois at Chicago is the city's only public research university. For nearly fifty years, the Department of Urban Planning and Policy's top-ranked Master of Urban Planning and Policy (MUPP) program has advanced the university's urban commitment. We have a diverse student body, faculty comprised of accomplished scholars and practitioners, opportunities for research assistantships in our college's nine research centers and institutes, and ample internships across the Chicago region. We are the only planning program in Chicago that is fully accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board.
We offer two master's degree programs and two certificates that prepare students for planning careers in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors:
- Masters in Urban Planning and Policy
- Masters in City Design
- Certificate in Geospatial Analysis and Visualization
