Our Program
Founded in 1666, Lund University is one of the world's top 100, research-intensive universities and the number one choice for international students coming to Sweden. As a major hub for international research collaboration, Lund is a global meeting place for students and staff, with over 130 nationalities represented.
Lund University offers more than 100 Master's degree programmes taught entirely in English, across a broad range of subject areas, including: environment & sustainability, business, economics & management, engineering & technology, architecture & design, fine & performing arts, humanities, international studies and social sciences, law, medicine & health and natural sciences.
A number of programmes are inter-disciplinary and truly unique.
Flagship Master's programmes at Lund University include: International Development and Management, Public Health, Environmental Management and Policy, Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science, Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation, Applied Cultural Analysis, Sustainable Urban Design, Human Ecology - Culture, Power and Change, Innovation & Global Sustainable Development, International Human Rights Law, Media and Communication Studies, Finance, Management (MiM), Entrepreneurship & Innovation, International Marketing and Brand Management, Molecular Biology, Physical Geography & Ecosystem Science, Middle Eastern Studies, Social Studies of Gender... and more.
Students experience an open and informal study environment designed to stimulate critical thinking and freedom of mind. Professors are addressed by first name and students are considered as junior colleagues, whose opinion matters.
The learning environment is collaborative. Group work is a key part of academic life, encouraging students to work in teams and network across cultures - simulating and preparing you for the dynamics of the international job market.
Studies are taught one or two courses/modules at a time, over shorter periods (not all in parallel through the entire semester/year). This allows students to go deep into the specific subject areas and conclude with an exam or assignment before moving on to the next one or two courses/modules. A thesis project concludes the Master's programmes.
All Master's at Lund are well connected to the job market and also prepare you for PhD positions for those seeking to continue their research career.
The University is located in Lund - a charming, cobble-stoned, medieval "college" town, just 10 minutes by train from Sweden's 3rd largest city Malmo, and 40 minutes by train from Copenhagen, Denmark.

What Our Students Say
The program helped me build a solid career and an international network, while connecting me with lifelong friends. The combination of theoretical and practical education from experts prepared me for a wide range of environmental jobs.
Jack Fraser (Sustainability Analyst, Thule Group, Malmö, Sweden), MSc Environmental Management and Policy ‘17This program is really unique since it requires students to spend a semester applying theoretical knowledge with an internship in a development organisation. The program was a great experience. I particularly enjoyed getting to know my amazing classmates, who came from all over the world.
Sara Murray (Program Manager, Mercy Corps Global Headquarters, Portland OR), MSc International Development and Management ‘10What I appreciated most about the Master's programme in Environmental Management and Policy was the applied nature of the content and curriculum of the program. We were able to put into practice, with industry and government, the very things we were learning in the classroom. The program was applied, interdisciplinary, and international.
Steven Curtis (Ph.D. Sustainable Consumption, Lund University), MSc Environmental Management and Policy ‘15
