Our Program

The Northwestern MSL is the legal master's degree designed exclusively for the STEM and technical professional.

At the Intersection of Law, Business, & STEM: The Master of Science in Law program at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law is designed to arm STEM students and professionals with the tools they need to succeed in the innovation economy. The unique MSL curriculum centers at the intersection of law, business, and technology, with specific focus areas of intellectual property and patent design, business law and entrepreneurship, regulatory analysis and strategy, and skills development. Students can complete the full-time residential program in 9 months, or the part-time online program in 2-4 years.

Application Deadline

Spring 2023 start (part-time online format only; classes begin Jan. 9, 2023):

  • Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis, beginning in September
  • Last date to apply: November 1, 2022.  

Fall 2023 start (part-time online and full-time residential formats; classes begin August 28, 2023):

Applications are considered in three rounds and also are reviewed on a monthly basis:  

  • First Round deadline: February 1, 2023
  • Second Round deadline and Final Deadline for International Students: April 1, 2023  
  • Final Deadline for Domestic Students: June 1, 2023.
