Our Program
The Yale School of the Environment (YSE) grants the following degrees: Master of Environmental Management (MEM); Master of Environmental Science (MESc); Master of Forestry (MF); and Master of Forest Science (MFS). One-year, mid-career MEM and MF options are available for environmental professionals with at least 7 years of relevant environmentally-focused work experience. Additionally, a program is available for Yale College undergraduates in which a bachelor's degree in the College and a master's degree from the School can be earned in five years. YSE also offers joint-degree programs with the Yale School of Architecture, Yale Divinity School, Yale Graduate School of Arts & Sciences - Global Affairs, African Affairs, East Asian Studies, European and Russian Studies or International Development Economics, Yale Law School, Yale School of Public Health, Pace University Law School and Vermont Law School. A dual program with the School of Management at Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, as well as a dual degree option with Tsinghua University in China focusing on Environmental Engineering are additional options.
A Ph.D. program, officially administered by the Yale Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, is also offered at YSE.
The school's mission is to prepare new leadership and create new knowledge to sustain and restore the long-term health of the biosphere and the well-being of its people.
