Our Program

Our students, faculty, and alumni share a commitment to leading lives of purpose. We strive to make a real and positive impact on the world.

The Sanford School of Public Policy is among the nation’s leading public policy schools, and offers master's and doctoral-level degrees in public policy, international development policy and environmental policy. Judith Kelley, an expert on international relations including issues such as human trafficking and election monitoring, is the school's dean. Our faculty work in international fields from global climate and energy policy, international development, health, and environmental health, to global governance, security, cyber and terrorism. The school’s practitioners and scholars provide top-quality teaching and one-on-one mentoring.

The school’s Master of Public Policy (MPP) program is ranked 5th in the nation for policy analysis by U.S. News and World Report. MPP candidates may also earn dual professional degrees in law, business, medicine or environmental policy.

The Master of International Development Policy (MIDP) is a mid-career professional degree that attracts students from around the world.

The International Master's in Environmental Policy at Duke Kunshan University in China is designed to meet the growing global need for leaders who are versed in both Chinese and international environmental issues and policies.

Graduates of the school's PhD program have secured faculty positions at major universities, as well as research positions at think tanks and NGOs.
