Our Program
Named in honor of our 41st president, Texas A&M’s Bush School of Government & Public Service embodies the philosophy of President George H.W. Bush. President Bush believed that public service is a noble calling and that men and women of character can make a difference in their states and in their country.
Located in the heart of the nation’s capital, just two blocks from the White House, Black Lives Matter Plaza, and Freedom Plaza, the Bush School DC offers graduate students from diverse backgrounds a path to a successful career in national security, diplomacy, and foreign policy.
Our building is currently undergoing extensive renovation. When completed later this spring, it will contain almost 47,000 square feet of space across five floors to welcome Texas A&M students, alumni, and visitors. There will be ample classrooms and conference rooms, student and faculty lounges, multiple collaborative/huddle rooms, an admissions center, catering kitchen, snack and beverage stations, and a 150-seat state-of-the-art theater/lecture hall. The first floor will greet visitors with a welcome center, where they can learn more about the Bush School DC, Texas A&M University, and our robust series of programs and events.
The Bush School DC provides students with the tools to understand complex issues through rigorous coursework and in-depth discussions led by well-published scholars and seasoned practitioners from federal agencies. Inaugural classes began in January 2021 with students enrolled in the Master of International Policy (MIP) program. Additional graduate degree and certificate programs will be forthcoming as we continue to grow.
A special source of pride for the Bush School DC is our dedicated faculty, accomplished practitioners with real-world experience in national security, foreign affairs, and diplomatic relations. Small, in-person classes provide an optimum learning environment that will provide students with a stellar educational experience in an intimate space that promotes thought-provoking conversation among students and faculty.
With a prime location in the hub of the nation’s capital, the Bush School DC is able to draw upon a plethora of renowned experts to enhance its programs. Lawmakers, innovators, and thought leaders are interwoven into the educational experience offered to students.
The Bush School DC benefits from the strength and stellar reputation of Texas A&M’s Bush School in College Station, Texas, as well as the vast resources of Texas A&M University, one of the largest state university systems in the country. In addition, students have access to the strength of the Aggie network, a worldwide support system of over 500,000 alumni in more than 165 countries. The Aggie network is known for its character and loyalty, along with the desire to help fellow former students.
For students seeking to optimize their graduate school experience, the Bush School offers the ideal combination of education, experts with real-world experience, and many opportunities to interact with our nation’s leaders and policy makers. There’s simply no better place to gain the experience needed to propel one’s career in public service to the next level.
