Our School of Education— one of the largest and most comprehensive in Virginia—is the alma mater of one-third of teachers and administrators in Northern Virginia’s world-class school systems. Each year more than 3,000 graduate students enroll in our innovative academic programs, which include degree and certificate options in areas such as advanced study for teachers and school leaders, instructional design and technology, and education policy.  Our renowned PhD in education program offers a wide range of specializations and is among the largest in the country.

The School of Kinesiology offers exceptional academic programs dedicated to promoting optimal health and enhancing the quality of life through physical activity. The school offers programs in athletic training, kinesiology, and a kinesiology concentration within the PhD program.

Our School of Sport, Recreation, and Tourism Management offers some of the university’s most dynamic, hands-on graduate programs, including sport and recreation studies. What Our Students Say

  • Amanda Madden image

This degree is exactly the type of professional development I needed. The courses are related to the content, and they allow for research and projects to be embedded into my daily instruction and practices. I receive support not only from my professors but from the other students as well to improve in different areas of my teaching.

Amanda Madden, Curriculum and Instruction, Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning ‘22
  • Bekah Ransbro image

The faculty I have worked within my time at George Mason has been world-class. I owe all I have learned and accomplished to my faculty and their genuine investment in their students' education and ambitions.
