Our Program
The University of East Anglia (UEA) offers a wide range of Masters and PhD programs under four faculties: Arts and Humanities, Health, Science, and Social Sciences. Flagship programs include the UK's first School of Environmental Sciences and Creative Writing course. The professional education offered by our Schools of Social Work, Education, and Law are highly regarded. UEA also features well ranked programs in International Development and Economics. Typically, Masters degrees are 1 year and PhDs are 3 years in length.
Campus is set in over 300 acres of rolling parkland just two miles from the mediaeval city center of Norwich. The University is recognized for its academic and research achievements and attracts students from over 100 countries. UEA ranks in the UK Top 15, the World Top 200, and the World Top 100 for research citations. Due to high teaching quality, UEA was awarded gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework.
UEA was designed so that everything you need for living and studying is no more than a few minutes away. Our library is open 24/7, providing study, computer, social, and quiet areas. Students can do their shopping, banking, laundry, mailing and shipping on campus. There are multiple places to eat, drink, and socialize with a lively, multi-cultural community. Campus features live music events, club nights, film screenings, and an array of student societies to join. UEA is home to the biggest indoor sports center in Britain, the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (featured as Avengers HQ in some Marvel movies), and its own medical center and on-campus dentist. Students also have access to support services, a multifaith center, and careers services. UEA is investing £300 million in facilities for staff and students. In the summer of 2019, UEA opened a state-of-the-art teaching and learning building for Science and Engineering. The Sky House will open in 2022 as the home of Arts and Humanities and some Social Sciences schools.
UEA accepts U.S. Federal Loans through the FAFSA and offers competitive international scholarships.

What Our Students Say
UEA prepared me for my career in many ways. It introduced me to an international culture - an experience that has been invaluable. It also pushed me to be independent in my research and to push myself to explore new ideas, as well as to clearly and effectively express these ideas.
Charles D. Thompson, MSc Water Security and International Development ‘14I visited Norwich and the campus before enrolling and even had the chance to meet with my programme director and another American student. The campus is so inviting and I felt so welcome that I knew I had to attend. Having done my undergrad at a large state university in the United States, the campus was drastically different, with a greater sense of community, a closer feeling.
Justus Flair, MA Biography and Creative Non-Fiction ‘17This opportunity to live and learn at UEA has given me the ability to further my understanding and passion for development while exposing me to new cultures, ideas, and experiences. I know these memories and connections will follow me long after I have completed my programme and will remind of the people, places, and experiences that make UEA feel like home.
Alex Crockett, MA Agriculture and Rural Development ‘18
