Bay Area Covid Relief Project

These are strange times. We are all facing unprecedented uncertainty and anxiety. Many of us have lost our jobs, seen our schools or workplaces close indefinitely, been unable to visit loved ones and friends, and had to cope with other challenging changes.

But now is not a time for panic. It is a time to come together. We must acknowledge that the effects of this crisis are not being equally felt. For the most vulnerable among us--our community's population of over 35,000 homeless individuals, seniors living with chronic illnesses, undocumented immigrant families, and recently unemployed low-wage workers--this is truly an imminent matter of life and death. Organizations, shelters, and food banks across the Bay are in desperate need of donations, as people already struggling with health and nourishment issues brace for the onslaught of coronavirus and its economic wake.

The goal of this project is simple: connect people who have supplies with people who do not. It constructs a network of three entities:

• Donors review our list of highly needed items and decide what they can offer. But they are not expected to deliver the items themselves. Rather, they simply place the items on their doorstep at a specified time, and one of BACRP's drivers drops by to pick them up. If you are interested in becoming a donor, please fill out this form.
• Drivers pick up donations from neighborhood residences and transport them to a local community organization (shelter, food bank, nonprofit, etc.). Since the items are left outside, there is little-to-no human contact. If you are interested in volunteering as a driver, please fill out this form.
• Organizations receive supplies and distribute them to at-risk individuals and communities. If your organization is interested in partnering with us, please fill out this form.
