Associate Director of Development and Alumni Engagement
The College of Public Health seeks dynamic development professional to join its development and alumni relations team. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations at the College of Public Health, the Associate Director of Development and Alumni Engagement will successfully support ongoing alumni programming that highlights the College and engages a broad base of constituents. The incumbent will cultivate volunteers and support recruitment of members for alumni boards, as well as serve as a main liaison with campus partners including Temple's Office of Alumni Relations, Career Services and academic departments to identify meaningful engagement opportunities and facilitate recruitment of alumni for career mentoring initiatives. The incumbent will be creative, strategic, and collaborative in their approach to constituency engagement, working with colleagues across campus and alumni volunteers to advance the mission of CPH.
The Associate Director will effectively manage a portfolio of major and leadership gift prospects, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship with the purpose of advancing donor levels with major gifts ($50,000+) and leadership annual gifts ($1,000+) on an annual basis. The incumbent will develop strong relationships through qualification and cultivation meetings which build toward effective solicitation of alumni and friends at or above their rated giving level. S/he will work in conjunction with the Office of Prospect Research to identify prospects for fundraising and to recruit alumni leaders and volunteers to serve on boards and committees. The incumbent will craft effective, persuasive, and professional written proposals and other materials for the securing of gifts. As part of an established development team, the Associate Director will meet or exceed annual visit, solicitation and dollar goals to be defined each year in their performance development plan and will do so with a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and creativity. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and at least four years of successful, progressive non-profit fundraising experience, or related experience in other sectors, with demonstrated success developing and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders including donors/prospects, clients, volunteer leadership, and senior staff. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
*Ability to manage an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects, identify and qualify prospects, engage and cultivate current and prospective donors, directly solicit donors for major and other gifts, and steward donors.
*Demonstrated ability to raise and close major gifts.
*Demonstrated ability to execute objectives and goals aligned to the mission of a complex, urban university and the ability to persuasively represent its goals to multiple constituents.
*Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, strategic-thinking skills; willingness to take initiative and learn
*Highly detailed-oriented and well-organized with the ability to handle multiple priorities; high capacity to work effectively as part of a team; and an understanding of how to utilize relational databases and computer systems.
*Proficiency in office software systems such as: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
*Proven aptitude in learning new database systems such as Reeher, Self-Service Banner & Cognos
*Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively, including developing timelines, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
*Proactive, self-starter with the ability to use persistence and creativity to overcome difficulties that arise in pursuit of a goal.
*Superior interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to work in a cooperative manner with a diverse group of internal and external constitutes to achieve collective goals.
*Superior oral and written communication skills and ability to write persuasive development proposals.
*Experience using social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.
*Ability to travel and work evening and weekend hours.
*Experience working with higher education institutions or large complex non-profit organizations in the public health sector.
