The Advancement and Engagement Manager will serve as an advancement officer for the Trust within the Unites States. In this role, the incumbent will participate in a team responsible for building increased engagement of alumni and friends as we launch the 125th Anniversary Campaign.

Key responsibilities:

·       Manages a portfolio of US-based donors and prospects at the annual fund and major gift level. Engages in donor discovery outreach to build the US portfolio of donors.

·       Cultivates, solicits and stewards annual and major donors to help generate the global goals of £1m annually to the Fund and £20m annually for Scholarship expansion, programming, capital needs, and endowment.

·       Engages with the 2500+ US-based Alumni & Friends community. Creates virtual and in person opportunities for alumni to engage more fully with each other

·       Implements and delivers alumni and stakeholder events and activities across the US, working closely with local volunteers and Rhodes House colleagues, as appropriate.

·       Supports the Head of Advancement & Engagement, North America, in managing overall fundraising and alumni engagement activity.

Role requirements and criteria:

  • Significant fundraising experience (ideally 3 years’ or more) with increasing responsibility in cultivating and soliciting annual and major gifts.
  • Experience in developing relationships across the donor lifecycle from cultivation through solicitation and stewardship.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate across a broad range of audiences.
  • Experience in development and execution of high-impact events (both donor and programme oriented).
  • Knowledge of current fundraising methods, best practices, and fundraising tools/technology (Salesforce a plus).
  • Discretion and attention to regulatory environment (e.g. GDPR and privacy laws).
  • A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.

  • Ability to operate remotely, with regular travel across the United States, and available to travel to Oxford quarterly (when this becomes possible).

Flexible / Remote working, with preference for priority geographies for engagement (Boston, New York, Washington, DC, and San Francisco)
