Our client, a renowned public health association in Washington DC, is seeking a temporary to hire Media Relations Associate!

Function and Scope:

The Associate, Media Relations will be responsible for media monitoring and reporting; coordinating social media outreach (including engaging with reporters, study authors, association leaders and institutions); implementing PR around partnership announcements, awards and recognition, etc. Other responsibilities also include pitching stories to trades, blogs and/or long-lead consumer or association magazines as assigned and arranging interviews with media and association leaders.

*Major Duties and Responsibilities: *

  • Responsible for daily monitoring of the association in the news, as well as monitoring/reporting around major media efforts.
  • Responsible for daily posting and monitoring social media outreach from the social media account, including engaging with reporters, study authors, association leaders and institutions, as well as promoting major news items featuring leaders. 
  • Assist with writing and promoting press releases related to new partnership announcements, awards and recognition, hospital recognitions, etc.
  • Assist with pitching of article ideas to trades, blog and/or consumer or trade publications
  • Assist with coordinating communications related to health awareness months.
  • Arrange interviews with media and association leaders.
  • Assist with associations annual meeting, including coordinating media registration
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail, as well as solid organizational, writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple-tasks at once and work in a fast-paced team environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms.
  • Experience working with media.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring platforms.
