Business Development Manager

The New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) is a rapidly growing nonprofit biomedical research institute whose mission is to accelerate cures for the major diseases of our time through stem cell research. NYSCF is seeking an analytical, highly motivated Business Development Manager with a strong biomedical and business background. In this role, you will work with the NYSCF management team to analyze business opportunities and partnerships, create presentations/other written materials, and mange relationships with potential partners or investors. The Business Development Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that NYSCF's technology and intellectual portfolio is commercialized to advance therapies for patients and optimize value to NYSCF.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating various business, licensing, and partnership opportunities.
  • Analyzing biomedical research, drug discovery and biotech / pharmaceutical market trends and competitive landscapes.
  • Creating business plans.
  • Creating executive summaries and presentations for partner meetings.
  • Generate and build financial models with scenario planning.
  • Working with various parts of the organization to gather, generate, share and present information.
  • Presenting analyses and proposals and managing relationships to senior management, potential investors, partners and related advisors.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant life sciences business experience or relevant consulting/analyst experience.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with an integrated view of business and scientific issues.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Advanced degree in Biology or MD a plus.
  • Strong communication and excellent writing skills.
  • Superior organizational skills; stickler for accuracy with great attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial team environment.
  • Willing to travel 10% - 20%.
  • Willing and able to learn new skills to meet changing needs of the organization.
  • A real passion for building new, novel diagnostics/therapies for patients.
