The Associate Director of Development will be a key member of the development and communications team reporting to the Vice President of Development and Communications and working closely with leaders across the organization.
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Development and Communications
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full time, Exempt, Salaried
Develop and implement an alumni engagement strategy, ensuring that the Steppingstone alumni community feels informed and involved. Coordinate regular opportunities for alumni to mentor current scholars, participate in career workshops, and network with each other.
Cultivate meaningful relationships with current and prospective donors that result in increased philanthropic support.
Research, identify and recommend applicable grant funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies (local, state and federal). Write thoughtful, comprehensive, and compelling proposals. Work closely with the VP of Programs and program staff to gather relevant qualitative and quantitative data for grant reports.
Oversee EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) program.
Assist with stewardship efforts, including written stewardship reports, the annual impact report, and the planning and execution of donor appreciation events.

Demonstrated success in building relationships with key stakeholders, soliciting and closing gifts, managing volunteer committees, and approaching problems and opportunities strategically.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Willingness to listen, learn, and grow
Passionate about educational access for underserved communities
Ability to think critically and strategically and prioritize tasks with minimal direction
Excellent computer skills with strong working knowledge of Google Suite
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree required
5+ years experience in Advancement/Alumni Relations/Fundraising or related field.
Steppingstone Alumni preferred but not required
Must be able to regularly access and use general office equipment including phones, computers, copiers, etc.
Must be able to work in a busy, often complex work environment that is generally climate controlled.
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.
Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
Driver’s license required, personal car preferred
This a hybrid position.
Please note: In order to work at Steppingstone Scholars, you must have three clearances (PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal Record, and FBI clearance) issued within one year of start date on file at Steppingstone. You must also complete a mandated reporter training. You may not begin working until all clearances and the mandated reporter training are complete and received by Steppingstone. Receipts of clearances are not accepted. Additionally, all Steppingstone employees must be vaccinated no later than November 1, 2021.
