Accounting Manager

Dworbell Inc. is a trade association management company, magazine publisher and video content creator with a specialization in multifamily real estate development & finance and equity release and reverse mortgage finance.

Our current clients are National Housing & Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA), National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA) and National Aging in Place Council (NAIPC).


The primary role of the Accounting Manager is to support the finance and accounting functions for Dworbell, Inc., NH&RA, NRMLA and NAIPC.  The Accounting Manager must be

able to provide accurate and timely financial reporting by performing a variety

of accounting duties for multiple entities. 

The Accounting Manager will be managing the transactional level detail, full accounts payable and accounts receivable cycle, general ledger account reconciliations, preparing financial schedules and analysis.  In addition, this position supports the Controller with the monthly close process, financial and compliance audit preparation, and annual tax filings.  


Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

Accounts Payable duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare accounts payable for all outside vendors, consultants, and employee expense reimbursements, utilizing AP expense management software Mineral Tree and some manual process. 
  • Verifies disbursement requests for terms and proper approval.
  • Verifies adherence with Accounts Payable policies and procedures.
  • Generate all check disbursements and maintain electronic files.
  • Review all general ledger coding and sales tax applied on company invoices.
  • Prepares monthly American Express credit card reconciliations.
  • Maintains all contract files for: advertising, consultants, events, and sponsorships.

Accounts Receivable duties and responsibilities:

  • Enters daily cash receipts which includes entering and editing cash receipts, updating, and approving batches.
  • Generate the weekly remote deposits for all checks received via mail.
  • Three-way reconciliation of monthly cash receipts transactions to Association Management System (Association Anywhere-AA), the bank statements and accounting software (Sage 50).
  • Ensure all accounts receivable batches are settled and closed in AA.
  • Process all monthly recurring credit cards for web-listing.
  • Prepare monthly inter-company bill backs invoices between entities.

General Ledger duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries and general ledger reconciliations of balance sheet accounts including but not limited to prepaid expenses, receivables, and accrued expenses.
  • Assist with annual audits and tax filings including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation as well as responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Conform with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal control policies and procedures.
  • Assist with event planning budgets and the annual budget process.

Payroll duties and responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for employees for time and attendance.
  • Prepare payroll semi-monthly journal entries.
  • Data entry for all time and attendance and personnel transactions such as new hire, termination, leave of absence, benefits deductions, garnishments, etc.
  • Prepare and maintain related payroll records and reports.
  • Cross-train designated back-up to administer and process payroll.
  • Works closely on other NRMLA and NH&RA teams on event planning, and administrative projects.
  • Proactively identifies business solutions that will improve or streamline processes.
  • Performs ad-hoc projects as needed.


  • Must have a BS in Accounting, public accounting and not for profit experience preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 5-7 years board accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in applying general accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Intermediate Excel skills required.
  • Experience with Sage 50 or similar accounting software, Mineral Trees and Association Anywhere required.
  • Detail-oriented as well as strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.

The job frequently requires ability to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.  Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
