Community Outreach Manager


Star Island Corporation is currently seeking a Community Outreach Manager responsible for managing Star Island's communications and marketing (web site, social media and print), coordinating outreach efforts, planning and implementing events and sponsorship, and supporting the Director of Development with various development functions; including donor relations and stewardship, working with the outreach and engagement committee, selected task forces, and performing some office administrative support work. This is a year-round, full-time, exempt position. The Community Outreach Manager reports directly to the Director of Development.


Island residency is required from early-June through late-September for up to five nights per week depending on workload.


Responsibilities:


Outreach - Coordinate year round communications, maintain social media presence (including email marketing), write and distribute press releases, and manage Ambassador Program. Participate in Outreach and Engagement Committee meetings. Participate as active member of Staff Marketing Team, keep agendas and minutes, schedule meetings, and coordinate tracking & metrics. Support Conference Center Director in new conference marketing efforts and in overall conference marketing to increase enrollment.


Website and Publications - Administer, develop, maintain, and oversee content updates of SIC website. Coordinate content, design and production of all SIC publications, including external (e.g. annual Program Catalog, Better Living on Star Island) and internal (e.g. handbook for conference leaders). Provide desktop publishing support for Development.


Events & Sponsorships - Conceptualize, manage and execute fundraising and community events. Manage a growing corporate sponsorship program, including solicitation and stewardship of business and organizations.


Development Support - Work closely with DD regarding fundraising communications. Assist DD with donor relations and stewardship, data management, and reporting. Maintain inventory of development collateral & supplies, including stationery, envelopes, etc. Assist in development and coordination of in-kind giving program, including in-kind gift acknowledgment.


Volunteer Administration - Staff Liaison to the Outreach and Engagement Committee, selected task forces and volunteer groups. Work with Conference Center Director, seasonal Volunteer Coordinator and others to plan and implement on-island volunteer program, and gather maintain accurate volunteer records for recognition and other purposes. Provide support to volunteer Annual Fund representatives.


Reports - Work with DD and Information Services Manager on various reports and analysis of visitation and fundraising goals.


General Office Support - Assist with projects and office support during off season as needed.


Qualifications:


 - Minimum 3 years experience in Marketing, Community Outreach, or a related field.

 - Experience with template-driven website programs, HTML, WordPress and Dreamweaver, publications experience with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop, word processing, spreadsheets.

 - Experience with Raiser's Edge and Blackbaud NetCommunity a plus.

 - Experience with social media and traditional media communications.

 - Excellent interpersonal skills.

 - Ability to relate well to the public, in person, on the telephone, and through written communication.

 - Tactful, creative, discreet, flexible, resourceful, dependable, friendly, and professional.

 - Able to work effectively on multiple projects, balance and prioritize multiple requests.

 - Ability to work independently with little supervision.

 - Ability to proactively problem solve.

 - Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information.

 - Graduation from a college or university with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

Located in the Isles of Shoals, New Hampshire, Star Island is ten miles from mainland New Hampshire and is operated as a seasonal religious and educational conference facility. As a 501(c)3 non-profit founded in 1915, Star Island is governed by a board of directors elected from our membership. The Corporation employs a small number of year-round staff and between 100 and 120 seasonal staff.
