Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, as a part of the Business Office, the Information Systems Lead is responsible for the development and execution of campus-wide information technology strategies for or affecting Geffen Academy at UCLA. The Information Systems Lead will work cross-departmentally and with the University on implementation of strategic technology initiatives, collection and maintenance of business data, systems access, student identity management and Geffen Academy's records retention policy and procedures. The incumbent will research and write IT operating procedural documents, communicate UCLA IT and Security rules and serve as a liaison with systems and IT departments on main campus. The incumbent will work closely with classroom educators, the Dean of Faculty and Divisions Directors to identify, source, implement and train educators on educational software's and technology.
Additionally, the incumbent will identify opportunities for business process improvement, automation of administrative functions, Geffen Academy IT processes and procedural changes, and ongoing analysis and evaluation of Geffen Academy programs as they relate to the use of innovative information technology. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the selection and implementation of software programs and hardware resources. They will manage the life cycle of application delivery, procuring from vendors who meet UCLA's IT Security Standards, and Accessibility standards from UCLA's Disability and Computing Program. The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, highly innovative, website savvy as it may require website maintenance, and be familiar on the requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The Information Systems Lead will also be responsible for translating business needs to IT solutions, and vice versa, with current and future programs, projects and initiatives in mind. S/he will provide formal Geffen Academy IT communications to the organization and implement IT related projects and initiatives as well as overall project governance and/or support, all in consultation and direction from the CAO.
