Children’s Place Association opened its doors in 1991 with the goal of serving children with HIV/AIDS. Even as the AIDS crisis waned in severity, Children’s Place Association saw ways to care for and bring value to other children confronting serious illnesses. As the HIV/AIDS crisis evolved into other critical health disparities, Children’s Place Association too has evolved to serve Chicago’s most vulnerable children and families facing serious health issues and extreme poverty. Today the organization serves more than 350 Chicago-area children and caregivers each year, while still continuing its commitment to those affected by HIV/AIDS and remaining the Chicago area’s leading provider of HIV/AIDS services.

For more than 25 years, Children’s Place Association has been an organization distinguished by its holistic and comprehensive approach to human services. In addition to serving those with health-related challenges, the organization has also been dedicated to helping the city’s most vulnerable children and families break cycles of poverty, while maximizing the impact on a child’s future and empowering them to become successful adults. Children’s Place Association provides critical assistance to children and their families in health, education, family stability, and financial stability.

The successful candidate will bring leadership characterized by an ability to garner broad community support, increase visibility of the organization, and foster an inclusive, positive organizational environment. The President and CEO will help to raise the visibility and awareness of Children’s Place Association, and they will lead a culture of service and accountability. This person should have experience working with multiple program or product lines, while being wed not to “program” but rather to the fulfillment of mission.

Strong candidates will bring a flexible approach and perspective to program development and evaluation. They will have demonstrated creativity in strategic planning and in the fulfillment of mission through an evolving array of services. Ability to adapt the organization in response to a changing environment is of paramount importance. Candidates will ideally have experience in creating replicable models of service and being mindful of potential opportunities to grow.

Candidates must be able to oversee and manage complex operations with a variety of funding sources and reporting requirements. Towards this end, CPA seeks candidates who have worked closely with financial leaders to develop the teams as well as strong systems of grants & contract management, reporting and accountability.

Children’s Place Association seeks an adaptive, creative leader who has served in a senior role overseeing a multi-faceted, mission-driven organization. The most qualified candidates will have experience in youth services, early childhood development, or primary healthcare. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
