The Alumni & Parent Engagement Manager plays a central role in engaging California College of the Arts alumni and parents in the life of the college. This position helps the Senior Manager of Alumni & Parent Engagement to plan, implement, and evaluate a range of alumni and parent programs that support involvement with the larger CCA community. The Manager serves as an important representative to CCA's dynamic community of over 20,000 alumni and 4,000 parents. As a key implementer, the Manager works collaboratively with faculty, staff, campus departments, and academic programs to realize meaningful communication and programming with alumni and parents. This position helps to implement and leverage: 1) compelling programs that engage alumni and parents in the life of the college to encourage philanthropic support for CCA; 2) alumni and parent volunteer opportunities that strengthen connections with students and that support career services and enrollment goals; and 3) an active communication program that keeps alumni and parents apprised of evolving plans college-wide.


Helps shape and implement a comprehensive communications and outreach plan to appropriately involve alumni and parents in shaping and supporting plans for CCA's future. With input from key Marketing & Communications and Advancement staff and the Senior Manager of Alumni & Parent Engagement, implement a consistent multi-channel communications plan to keep alumni and parents engaged with plans as they evolve. Provide meaningful avenues for alumni and parents to discuss and give feedback on these communications. Ensure that feedback is shared within CCA to help inform plans. Identify and take advantage of appropriate opportunities for individual alumni and parents to participate in the planning process through committees, interviews, focus groups, etc. Serve as a primary conduit of information on all topics related to campus and program planning. (30%)

Helps the Senior Manager plan and implement creative and impactful events and engagement experiences for local, regional, and international alumni that align with the overall goals of the department. Works closely with vendors and facilities staff. Develops metrics to evaluate event outcomes. Involves key faculty, staff, and trustees to maximum benefit. Regularly attends donor events and other campus activities. (20%)

Works with the Senior Manager of Alumni & Parent Engagement to build professional networking programs with select alumni and parents to meet the following needs: 1) enable CCA to expand its Career Developmentprogram offerings; and 2) help CCA recruit top prospective students by talking about the CCA experience with prospective students via one-on-one conversations, at recruitment events, and admissions fairs. (20%)

With the Senior Manager of Alumni & Parent Engagement, cultivates a network of active alumni and parents locally and internationally. Meets regularly with alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and current CCA students. (20%)

Performs additional duties as required. (10%)


Bachelor's degree with demonstrated project coordination, volunteer, or alumni relations experience, preferably within an education or arts organization, and strong interest in the arts and design community desired. Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with ability to engage, motivate, and inspire alumni, parents, and students. Exceptional organizational skills with ability to work on multiple assignments, implement an annual plan that works toward a long range strategic objective, and accomplish programs and projects in collaboration with volunteers. Must be detail-oriented and able to work efficiently with accuracy and thoroughness on ongoing projects. Ability to work well with and in a mature and professional manner with staff, trustees, faculty, and alumni. A proven record of working cooperatively as part of a team as well as independently. Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite required and knowledge of The Raiser's Edge a plus.
