Invitation to Apply for the Position of

Executive Director

Philadelphia, PA

The Peggy Browning Fund, an exceptional nonprofit organization founded in 1997 to educate, inspire, and recruit the next generation of activist attorneys advocating for social and economic justice for workers, is seeking an experienced nonprofit leader to serve as its next executive director commencing in the summer of 2021. With generous support from labor unions, law firms representing workers and their unions, and a broad community of workers’ rights advocates and philanthropists, the Peggy Browning Fund has successfully grown over the past 25 years to build a strong network of labor lawyers, union leadership, and legal educators to provide extraordinary opportunities for law students to enhance their education and connections through summer fellowships, an annual workers’ rights conference, several regional workplace justice workshops held at law schools throughout the country, and many valuable mentoring initiatives.

The executive director of the Peggy Browning Fund is critically important and responsible for the programmatic, financial, and operational success of the enterprise. The executive director should have significant experience in program and organizational management, a successful track record of fundraising, and the ability and aptitude to inspire and engage a diverse community of law students, law school administrators and faculty, labor union leaders, workers’ rights attorneys and advocates, and donors who care about workers’ rights issues. A sense of mission and passion for social and economic justice and diversity are essential, as is the capacity to communicate and lead in a proactive, entrepreneurial manner. The position requires an energetic, visionary and collaborative leader who has some experience or familiarity and affinity with the labor movement.
