The University of California’s Office of Federal Governmental Relations, located in Washington, D.C., seeks an associate director to join its team to advocate on behalf of the largest public research university system in the nation.
Associate Director (Req. No. 20180336)
The University of California is seeking a senior governmental relations officer with detailed knowledge of the federal government and higher education and research-related issues to join its legislative team. The associate director serves as a key member of the office management team and is one of the university’s representatives before Congress, federal agencies and associations on a range of issues, including budget and appropriations. The associate director is a key strategic advisor and assists in the development of legislative, communications and advocacy strategies. This position requires knowledge of a wide array of subject matter, and expertise in analysis, political strategy and advocacy at the federal level. This position works closely with the university’s campuses and national laboratories to provide expertise to policymakers and to advance the university’s federal priorities. Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree/and or advanced degree in political science, public relations, and/ or public policy-related fields and 7-10 years’ experience in federal governmental relations or communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
