The National Center for State Courts (NCSC) seeks a competent and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to partner with the organization’s executive leadership team and Board in leading the organization’s financial management and accounting operations and planning for the ongoing advancement and sustainability of the organization.
An independent, nonprofit court improvement organization, NCSC provides courts with authoritative knowledge and information in collaboration with the Conference of Chief Justices, the Conference of State Court Administrators, and other associations of judicial leaders. Headquartered in Williamsburg, VA with a staff of 156, NCSC offers international and domestic services to courts and administers federal, state, local government, and private foundation grants and contracts. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO leads a finance and accounting team of 12, including two direct reports (Accounting Director and International Finance Director) and serves as the staff liaison to the Board of Director’s Finance, Audit, and Investment Committees. The CFO also serves as a member of the Retirement Plan Advisory Committee. More specifically, the CFO is responsible for:

Skills and Attributes
The successful candidate will have a solid track record of strategic visioning and partnering in progressively responsible management level finance positions and success in building high performance teams. They must have knowledge of financial and business modeling, budget development, and general fiscal operations as well as nonprofit, federal grants and contracting, private sector, international, and domestic financial management experience.
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance or related discipline, or a combination of education and relevant experience, and a CPA are required.
