In this exciting period of growth and strategic development, Crown Family Philanthropies (CFP) is searching for a Philanthropy Engagement Associate. This is a newly created position that will support the strategy and execution of experiences that enable a large, distinguished, multi-generational family to design and participate in significant and compelling philanthropic work.

 

This role will support the philanthropic work of individual Crown family members, while also facilitating Crown family participation in CFP’s collective grantmaking work. The associate is responsible for collaborating on new strategies and communications systems that are both personally compelling and drive maximum social impact. The position is part of a small family engagement team that includes programming, communications, and technology.


 

This role requires a highly adept strategic thinker and team player who is able to develop strong relationships and foster collaboration across staff and family members of different ages, personalities, and interests. This individual reports to and works closely with the Director of Family Engagement and is responsible for close coordination with staff from the family services and CFP program teams. In addition to experience working with high-level stakeholders, the candidate should have compelling experience in the field of social impact and/or philanthropy. Most importantly, this individual must be highly creative, intelligent, inspiring, and particularly adept at handling sensitive and complex topics.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Family Engagement, coordinate with CFP staff and stakeholders to develop and successfully promote family engagement opportunities of varied intensity levels throughout the year and measure the success of these opportunities in generating learning, collaboration, and connection among family members
  • Support Director of Family Engagement with personal giving services for all family members
  • Support strategic thinking and program development for family engagement across all CFP entities
  • Provide administrative support needed to facilitate programmatic goals within family engagement
  • Provide support to CFP program committee staff on designing and facilitating meeting agendas and materials that result in dynamic and engaging committee experiences
  • Develop, implement, and support educational tools and learning opportunities (including in-person sessions, events, and materials) that add value to philanthropic experiences, convey the family’s history of philanthropy, and encourage family members to continue that legacy
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant issues and developments in the field to inform engagement activities and advise grantmaking decisions
  • Participate in overall CFP Team activities that advance organizational aims around social impact and family engagement
  • Engage in initiatives that foster team collaboration, including meetings, trainings, retreats, and special projects, taking the lead where interest, expertise, and opportunity coalesce

 

Skills and abilities:

  • Experience developing, engaging, and communicating with dynamic networks of diverse individuals
  • Familiarity with the development and implementation of grantmaking processes, communication tools, and evaluation frameworks
  • Ability to thrive in a family-centered enterprise environment
  • Ability to set and achieve bold objectives, balance multiple priorities, and manage multiple complex and overlapping projects
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to prioritize agendas
  • An inquisitive nature and orientation to detail with keen conceptual, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated track record of communicating complex issues succinctly; ability to listen and synthesize multiple inputs
  • Ability to exercise judgment regarding managing deadlines, expectations, and handling of sensitive communications
  • Dynamic and enthusiastic personality with exceptional relationship management skills, and desire for continued growth and learning

 

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate field experience required
  • Preferred experience engaging stakeholders for social impact or related initiatives
  • Knowledge of the social sector; experience in the nonprofit sector a plus
