Description

Ada Developers Academy (Ada) is a non-profit, tuition-free coding school. Our mission is to prepare women and gender expansive adults to be software developers while advocating for inclusive and equitable work environments. We primarily serve and address the needs of Black, Latine, Indigenous Americans, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander, LGBTQIA+, and low-income people. Our tuition-free training program includes a collaborative learning environment, individualized support, and an applied learning internship.

About this position


Student Affairs at Ada Developers Academy encompasses the student experience from admittance through graduation and beyond, engaging students in active learning in each of our programs: introductory courses (Ada Build and Ada Build Live); our Core curriculum; internship assignments with our corporate partners; and continuing education workshops through our Lovelace Learning Labs. Our team works closely with other departments to organize supporters, resources, and communications to provide a stable, community-based model of learning across our community.

The Student Affairs Program Manager will be responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and developing our student affairs programs, as well as connecting students to resources throughout the classroom and internship experience. This position also collaborates with Instructional staff on student events (e.g. Orientation Week) and addressing student needs, providing administrative and operational support. Additionally, this position collaborates agency-wide to engage the Ada community, improve Student Affairs processes, and reduce potential barriers to success.


This part-time position is 20 hours per week, hybrid (based in Seattle, WA), with a pay range of $30-35 per hour (DOQ) and excellent benefits.

Core responsibilities


Under the direction of the Director of Student Affairs and in collaboration with the Education team, bring leadership and organization to student support programs, communications, and events. This includes:

  • Plan and facilitate admissions activities; guide prospective students through the application process; guide students through the onboarding process
  • Conduct admissions interviews, reviewing application materials, and assisting in the admissions decision-making process.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide streamlined access to our student resources, including responding to requests, assisting with documentation, and clarifying processes; collaborate with external partners to provide services 
  • Coordinate with colleagues to craft organized communications with students, including newsletters, emails, and Slack messaging
  • Coordinate existing programs, such as Lovelace Learning Labs and Ada Build Live, including securing volunteer speakers, facilitating the event, and collecting and reporting on the event
  • Process student documentation, such as  requests for enrollment verification; support the overall maintenance of student data in Salesforce
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential qualifications


  • Enthusiastic support of Ada’s mission and demonstrated embodiment of Ada’s values in a work environment
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience
  • Experience managing, implementing and/or designing programs and/or projects 
  • Preferred: Experience supporting adult learners, student activities, student development, or a closely related field 
  • Preferred: An understanding of and appreciation for student development in alternative learning spaces 
  • Strong technical skills, including productivity tools (e.g. G-Suite, Slack, Asana , etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to be adaptable in a regularly changing work environment
