ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

LuMind IDSC is seeking an organized, self-starter professional to help advance the organization’s marketing and communications strategy and effort. LuMind IDSC envisions a world where every person with Down syndrome thrives with improved health, independence, and opportunities to reach their fullest potential. We accelerate Down syndrome research to increase availability of therapeutic, diagnostic, and medical care options and we empower families through education, connections, and support.

LuMind IDSC is based in Burlington, MA, has 11 total employees, and an annual revenue of $3.8 Million. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Marketing reports to the Chief Development Officer. The successful candidate will work with the Chief Development Officer and the Chief Executive Officer to develop and implement an integrated, strategic marketing and communications plan to advance LuMind IDSC’s brand identity; broaden awareness of and engagement with its research initiatives, community engagement programs and priorities; and increase fundraising across key stakeholder and grassroots audiences. Applicants should be able to reach, and increase, our audience through digital and traditional platforms and incorporate marketing efforts across various departments, such as community engagement, development and research. This position will lead, manage, and execute all aspects of public relations, marketing, communications, social media, and online and print publications for LuMind IDSC with the marketing department and external resources. The Director of Marketing supervises two positions responsible for social media, website content management, marketing metrics, email campaigns and day-to-day marketing operations to advance our mission. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Communications Strategy and Leadership

  • Lead the development and implementation of the organization-wide communications plan, and provide strategic oversight and execution support to the Team.
  • Work with Team to identify, evaluate, and prioritize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them
  • Align all visual communications, messaging, content properties, and publications according to established branding guidelines.
  • Develop public relations strategy for LuMind IDSC’s leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, donors, partnerships and media/key social influencers.
  • Develop, manage, and administer annual marketing budget.
  • Supervise and provide professional development for two Team members.

 

Communications and Marketing Day to Day 

  • Support Development Team to create fundraising and awareness campaigns using a variety of multi-media channels.
  • Responsible for conceiving, developing, producing and implementing organization-wide communications including fundraising, community engagement, and research to increase engagement and conversions. 
  • Oversee development of all print and video communications including collateral materials and electronic communications, and LuMind IDSC website (s).
  • Oversee multimedia assets, creative partners and contributors, including photography and videography.
  • Spearhead efforts to increase SEO visibility, generate leads and conversions, demonstrate ROI, and other key performance metrics.
  • Administer and oversee marketing and communications performance reports and dashboards, including data analysis to provide actionable, data-driven insights for driving success and engagement.
  • Create email marketing campaigns throughout the stakeholder lifecycle with strategic target segments; institute email marketing best practices for exceptional IP reputation with relevant email clients and increase inbox delivery and clickthrough rates.
  • Cultivate and manage media contacts, opportunities, and write press releases.
  • Support branded presentations for conferences, scientific meetings and fundraising events. 
  • Manage monthly organizational communications calendar, integrating all channels and departments.
  • Support all events and program areas with presentations, marketing collateral, and marketing campaigns.
  • Oversee organization and clinical trial websites - including management, improvement and maintenance.

 

Clinical trial/study recruitment

  • Develop and manage research and trial recruitment programs with regulatory-compliant information 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, journalism, communications, or related field
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years’ marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a management role 
  • Experience and proven results running digital marketing campaigns and tracking and interpreting analytics to inform marketing decisions
  • Deep Knowledge and understanding of social media marketing
  • Understanding of audience segmentation and key platforms used to communicate externally
  • Demonstrated experience managing a strategic marketing and communications campaigns
  • Experience in planning, writing, editing, graphic design and production of newsletters, press releases, annual reports, marketing literature, and other print publications
  • Strong skills using communications software including Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and WordPress
  • Graphic design, copywriting and copyediting experience
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented, and data-driven
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive
  • Optional, experience with regulatory-driven information such as trial recruitment

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

LuMind IDSC offers a robust compensation and benefit package. The target salary range for this role is $65,000 - $70,000. Benefits include employer contribution to your 401(k) plan, Long-term Disability and Whole Life, and, for full time employees, high quality health benefits.
