To identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit major and planned gifts from alumni, parents, friends and faculty of the Law School; manage a list of tracked major gift prospects including stewardship plans, and to engage in a high level of prospect contact.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is a full-time, exempt position with the Lewis & Clark Law School. The MGO is responsible for developing long-term philanthropic relationships with individual major donors with a capacity to support the organization with gifts of $10,000 or above, soliciting gifts in telephone and face-to-face meetings, overseeing outreach to donor audiences, and enhancing the Board’s involvement in fundraising. The successful candidate will have the capacity to meet an annual personal fundraising goal set by the Assistant Dean of Development and External Relations and the Major Gifts Officer, while also managing strategy to help the organization reach its financial goals through leadership and board solicitations.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to communicate with clarity about the Law School. They will have experience developing long-term donor relationships, independently closing six-figure gifts, and supporting the successful acquisition of larger gifts. The successful MGO will be a strategic thinker, solid planner, creative problem solver, and strong communicator. They will be goal-oriented and able to juggle multiple immediate solicitation priorities while simultaneously developing a pipeline for future gifts.
