    Mobile Pantry Distribution Coordinator Location: New York, NY

    New York Common Pantry is one of the city’s largest food pantries, providing food assistance, case management services, senior food provision, nutrition education, and hygiene services. We are a dynamic, mission-driven organization, experiencing rapid growth and expansion at this time.

    NYCP is a poverty-fighting organization that reduces hunger and promotes dignity, health, and self-sufficiency by using a holistic approach to reach over 122,000 distinct people -- over 729,000 visitors each year. Last year, we served over 11 million meals. Through an array of programs that we offer, we look to establish long-term stability for those we serve.

    The Mobile Pantry Distribution Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the Food Program operations at mobile sites and the warehouse/HUB, run smoothly during distribution, including ensuring food packing is placed in the order in which members arrive, addressing member ordering issues, and implementing distribution protocols.

    The Mobile Pantry Distribution Coordinator reports to the Mobile Pantry Manager at the Oak Ave location. This is a Full-Time position, up to 35 hours a week, non-exempt.

    Responsibilities:

    • Train and supervise volunteers to assemble pantry packages, ensuring adherence to established Pantry Package Guidelines.
    • Provide exceptional customer service during Mobile Pantry operations, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for clients.
    • Control the flow of clients at mobile sites and appropriately resolve member issues that may occur.
    • Ensure compliance with distribution protocols among support staff and volunteers to maintain operational efficiency and safety.
    • Work collaboratively with Mobile Pantry staff, Drivers, and Commodities Associates to efficiently set up and package food for distribution at mobile sites.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records for all received food and program supplies; oversee the proper storage and stock rotation of delivered items.
    • Ensure packing areas and distribution sites are well-prepared and organized before the start of operations, coordinating with partner staff as needed.
    • Assist with loading and unloading of vans and trucks, ensuring an accurate count of commodities being dispatched to or returned from the warehouse.
    • Accurately document all food products received for the Mobile Pantry; collaborate with the Warehouse Operations team to verify quality and quantity while updating the inventory log.
    • Confirm distribution quantities of Mobile Pantry packages with drivers and keep detailed records of all Mobile Pantry distributions, including the number of packages provided at each site, to ensure adequate supply levels.
    • Monitor Mobile Pantry distributions, offering support to Partnering Agency staff and volunteers during site set-up, distribution, and breakdown.
    • Perform other maintenance, program operations, or responsibilities as assigned by the Mobile Pantry Manager, contributing to the overall success of the program.
    • Drive NYCP vehicles to partner sites for drop-offs in lieu of staff shortage.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • A High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the social services field.
    • A valid Driver's License and experience with driving a company vehicle.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required.
    • Experience in using a hand truck and pallet jack is required.
    • Full professional proficiency level in English/Spanish or English/Chinese is a plus.
    • Commitment to helping the communities in need and NYCP’s work and mission.
    • Comfortable working with diverse populations.
    • Ability to multi-task and work in a highly trafficked area.
    • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
    • Certification in Food Safety Handling by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is preferred.
    • Work with volunteers and employees of NY Common Pantry and staff at partner sites.
    • Forklift experience is a plus.
