Description

FPWA, a leading New York City anti-poverty, policy, and advocacy nonprofit with a membership network of more than 170 human services and faith-based organizations, is seeking a top-level, exceptionally talented Chief Development Officer to create and execute a sustainable, comprehensive fundraising strategy. As a voice for marginalized individuals and families, FPWA is pushing the envelope to eradicate poverty, not simply manage it.  The CDO will be a key member of the senior leadership team and have a keen understanding of the role that policy and advocacy institutions play in addressing inequity and economic instability through service delivery and systems. They will be committed to FPWA’s vision and mission to effectively challenge and disrupt the status quo through meaningful systems change andaddressing the root causes of poverty.

FPWA is looking for someone with a successful track record of fundraising for programs, as well as for policy change, and the skill set to engage funders who can function as partners to support FPWA as they build a body of work.  Together with an engaged Board of Directors and senior management, the CDO will work to maintain a funding pipeline, expand relationships with institutional funders, and grow a substantial individual giving portfolio.

One of the highlights of this role is the ability to work closely with FPWA’s CEO, Jennifer Jones Austin.  Jennifer is a visionary and influential national leader in social and economic equity.   As a voice for marginalized individuals and families, she and FPWA are pushing the envelope to eradicate poverty, not simply manage it.  We are looking for someone committed to social justice who can genuinely articulate FPWA’s mission to effectively challenge and disrupt the status quo through meaningful systems change and by addressing the root causes of poverty. The CDO must demonstrate a sophisticated approach to fundraising, have knowledge of best practices, be capable of critically evaluating fundraising efforts, and be comfortable applying new and innovative fundraising tools that take advantage of growth opportunities.
