We are currently in search of a Major Gifts/Planned Giving Director for a Nonprofit Organization. The position is based in Washington, DC. This is a permanent position.

SALARY: $70,000 - $75,000/Annual


Is This Your Dream Job? As the Major Gifts/Planned Giving Director reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for meeting major gifts revenue goals, as well as soliciting, stewarding, and cultivating individual gifts.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-7 years of demonstrable development experience in soliciting and securing funds through cold calling and other methods
  • Experience building and managing a portfolio of individual major donors, CGAs, bequests, as well as implementing programs and projects in developing the Major Gifts/Planned Giving program
  • Genuine, authentic, enjoys a selling environment, able to take charge of a situation
  • Able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to grow, accept constructive feedback, travel (up to 20%)



How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Cultivate, steward, and solicit major gifts from prospective donors
  • Collaborate with Development team to create strategies that increase revenue
  • Adhere to annual fundraising goals (approximately $700k) through meetings and soliciting prospects
  • Plan special events for donors; recruit and support fundraising volunteers, as well as assist with marketing and communications surrounding events
  • Use software (Salesforce) and department metrics to track and steward donors
