Director of Development, Isenberg School of Management

University of Massachusetts Amherst

The Isenberg School of Management is experiencing a monumental shift. Over the last five years, we've recalibrated our priorities, focusing on generating robust research, attracting top-tier students, and becoming one of the leading business schools in the nation.

As a senior member of the Isenberg fundraising team, you raise major gifts to support us in our mission to impact the research, teaching and practice of management. We are looking for an engaging, entrepreneurial, development professional to help us capitalize on the growth potential of the School and to join our growing development team at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

  • Qualify leads through cold calls, emails, and social media and identify engagement opportunities for these new relationships.
  • Articulate the Dean's vision and our funding priorities to alumni, parents and friends of Isenberg and UMass Amherst.
  • Develop, document and implement specifically crafted cultivation and solicitation strategies for assigned major and principal gift prospects.
  • Prepare written proposals, informational materials, endowment agreements, gift illustrations and other resources needed to secure major and principal gifts.
  • Provide stewardship of donors through ongoing communication, recognition activities, and interaction with the beneficiaries of their support.
  • Facilitate the participation of the Dean, Department Chairs, Faculty and Advisory Board members in major and principal gift fundraising activities.
  • Collaborate with the Planned Giving and Corporate and Foundation Relations teams as well as other development units to prepare and communicate solicitation strategies for assigned prospects in your portfolio.

  • Bachelor's degree required. BA in business preferred.
  • You possess strong communication and relationship building skills, and a proven track record of cultivating, soliciting and closing major gifts to achieve bold fundraising goals.
  • You are curious and high-energy, with demonstrated initiative and the ability to tackle obstacles creatively in pursuit of your goals.
  • Extensive travel and occasional weekend and evening work.

To apply, please submit your resume and letter of interest here. We will be reviewing applications immediately and will accept applications until the position is filled.
