Description

Booklyn, Inc. is in search of Interns to assist with Communications, Collection Development, and Programs. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this intern will assist with cataloging and documenting our collection of artwork, promoting education, publishing, and gallery programs, and community outreach in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

Major tasks and goals:

  • Create dynamic social media campaigns that promote Booklyn's gallery, art & zine fair presence, webstore, workshops, artist activities, and more
  • Communication by email and telephone with press contacts, Booklyn’s artists and social justice organizations,
  • Gather and draft newsletter content
  • Assist with cataloging entire archives for institutional acquisition
  • Assist with community outreach planning
  • Organize and edit digital content relating to identity of the organization, including copy, archival video, photographs
  • Document incoming artwork and add to our database
  • Maintain mailing list, prepare various contacts lists for internal use
  • Perform research, and assist with planning for upcoming exhibition, publishing, and education programs
  • Light workspace maintenance and organizing


Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal, writing, and critical thinking skills
  • Interest in social justice and the arts
  • Experience working with most social media platforms
  • Must be willing and able to work independently without explicit direction.
  • Must be a clear and open communicator who is capable of working effectively and joyfully with a team of people
  • Must be available to work 8-12 hours per week


Experience working with databases, and Adobe Design Suite is a plus. Women, LGBTQI, people of color, and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
