Training and Technical Assistance Team Intern

Established by Congress in 1974, the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is the country’s single largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income Americans. LSC currently funds 132 independent nonprofit legal aid organizations with more than 800 offices throughout the nation. LSC’s mission is to promote equal access to justice and provide grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans.

 

LSC is seeking applicants local to the DC area. Depending on the status of Covid-19 related telework in the Summer, the internship may be fully remote, partially in-person, or fully in-person. If LSC returns to in-person work, the intern will have the option to report to the LSC office.


BASIC FUNCTION:


The primary objectives of the internship are for the intern to:


  • Increase existing training and technical skills;
  • Learn best practices for adult learning;
  • Learn time management skills while working on multiple time-sensitive projects;
  • Learn and implement effective professional attitudes and behaviors;
  • Increase and refine existing project management skills.


The intern's hours may be up to 37.5 hours per week. The internship will run from May through August 2021, with the potential for an extension through the Fall on a part-time basis. Candidates interested in an extended internship are encouraged to apply.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The intern's principal duties and responsibilities include:

·      Compile, organize, and maintain training manual images, formatting, and links, as well as transferring the various training scripts to the manual.

·      Curate Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Training Landing Page Drupal items and adding items.

·      Curate TTA Box folders for navigability.

·      Monitor, refer people to, and report on updates to the TTA Request Smartsheet to keep the team aware of the need and want for TTA Team assistance on LSC projects.

·      Revisit 2019 Training Report to reassess long-term training needs.

·      Support the TTA team in planning and preparing for trainings including but not limited to Rural Summer Legal Corps Training, Executive Director Training, and any Office of Program Performance or Office of Compliance and Enforcement staff trainings, specifically gathering and compiling notes and following up on logistical details for these events.


COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:


General:

LSC is accepting applications from students currently enrolled in college or recently graduated. The ideal applicant will be dependable, self-motivated, professional, hard-working, disciplined, and demonstrate integrity. They will have excellent research and analytical skills,  excellent oral and written communication skills, be attentive to details and organized, and be able to work both independently and on a team. They also will exercise good judgment and be an effective problem-solver, intellectually curious, and committed to LSC's mission to promote equal access to justice.

 

Technical/Specialized:

Background or demonstrated interest in training or adult education. A high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience working with Drupal content manager and updating web content using Drupal preferred.
